Your Instructor

Karen Scott is a fully qualified DVSA Approved Driving Instructor.

Gaining her ADI licence in November 2023, following successful and diverse careers as a teacher and a police officer,  Karen's tuition in her manual control car is hugely successful for her clients.

Her individualised and adaptive teaching techniques mean that the majority of her students pass the practical test at their first attempt.

You can rest assured that you will be fully prepared to meet the challenge!

Driving is definitely not just a means to an end to 'getting around:' it is something that can give you great independence, freedom and opportunity.  Once you've passed your practical test, you'll have the skill-set and the freedom to be able to appreciate planning journeys and driving to YOUR destinations.   

There is nothing to compare to the anticipation of a trip to a new destination; appreciate the journeys you will be able to take yourself on.

A crucial part of your driver development is reflecting on your lessons; we will analyse your successes and areas for improvement together.  

The practical driving test is a time when your driving is assessed for 'faults'; my aim for you 'on test', therefore, is to pass with as few driver faults as possible - if any at all!   

Being able to accurately reflect on your performance in each lesson will help you to do this.

I thoroughly enjoy driving. This is why I've chosen to teach others to do it. 

 I nurture my driving students (just as I nurtured my primary school pupils when I was teaching - a great number of whom are now learning to drive and passing with me), to encourage them to share that enjoyment.  I want my students to enjoy their driving, the learning process and, subsequently, driving independently, safely and with confidence.

My comprehensive driving curriculum covers everything you need to know and execute to become a safe, confident and progressive driver - for life.   

In my previous professions, I thoroughly enjoyed my careers both as a police officer and as a teacher.   

My police driver training and experience, alongside my teaching skills, are proving to be fantastically transferable.  They are also proving hugely successful for my students!

I teach students from Great Dunmow to Saffron Walden and the villages in between, using the Bishop's Stortford DVSA Test Centre.

NB: Due to high demand, I might not be able to schedule lessons with you straight away but I do operate a waiting list and things can change quickly when other students pass their tests...

My car is the perfect learning environment for students of all skill levels.  It is a manual car, equipped with climate control air conditioning for the warmer weather and heated seats, heated steering wheel and heated windscreen for the winter months.
